Castles Design and Defense- The hidden secrets of the stairwells 1#


 The hidden secrets of Stairwells – Stairwells were very distinctly designed in Medieval Castles. Stairwells that curved up to towers often curved and in a clockwise direction. This meant that the enemy would have a difficult time swinging their swords and the defenders had their sword hands on the outside wall which gave them more room to swing.
